Will You Follow Me Down?

Oh man, I LOVE rock band drama! Is anyone else following the Velvet Revolver split and relishing it? It's been this big protracted drama for a while but it has been coming to a head the past few weeks with Scott Weiland announcing from the stage that the band was done (while they were in the midst of a tour in Europe!) and Weiland also going to the media with the news of the Stone Temple Pilots reunion.

So last night I read on Idolator that Velvet Revolver essentially fired him as soon as the tour ended and Slash was quoted saying, "This band is all about its fans and its music and Scott Weiland isn't 100 percent committed to either." SNAP!

As I was making my rounds this morning though, I see Entertainment Weekly has a story that includes Scott Weiland's reaction to that quote and it's kind of hilarious. He's all wounded and stuff: "After reading the comment by Duff, Matt, Dave and the illustrious "GUITAR HERO," Saul Hudson, a.k.a Slash, I find it humorous that the so called four "founding members" of Velvet Revolver, better known to themselves as "the Project" before I officially named the band, would decide to move on without me after I had already claimed the group dead in the water on March 20 in Glasgow." That sounds like, "You can't fire me, I QUIT!!"

So Weiland comes off a bit like a baby but whatever, I'm totes Team Weiland - he was one of my first rock star crushes back in the day. Plus, HELLO STP REUNION! I am already putting together a carpool!

WHAT?

I have to admit I thought it was a tasteless joke the first time I read it, and now I'm totally sad about this. And I'm so embarrassed to care this much! But SAD!!!

But...LOLLILOVE! *sigh*

vm-i turn my camera on
Friday night, Heather and I were e-whining. We weren't sure if we should bother with the whole getting up early and driving up to Santa Monica for the Independent Spirit Awards. What if there are tons of people? What if we can't see anything? Blah blah blah. Finally Heather said that we might as well go for it because it will be one of those things where we will be glad we went. She was so right. The drive up to Santa Monica was nice and traffic-free, the weather was beautiful and the company was great. Plus, celebs! What was not great? My inherent laziness which caused me to not charge my camera battery before we left. Result? My camera died before the big stars showed up, so I was stuck using the low-quality, sometime-y camera on my cellular. LAME. I won't make that mistake again.

Whoops! Forgot to mention: If anyone wants the Netflix t-shirt (girly fit, size S/M) or the free 3 month subscription, just holla. I already have Netflix so I'm not eligible.

This just kept getting bigger and bigger as I kept going. So, huge picture post from the Screen Actors Guild awards red carpet. I am just jealous, I didn't go with [info]aprilbegins, [info]sweetcynic23 and [info]divachickie.

I figured you all could not live if I didn't post about Globes fashion. I do this for you, because I have no interest in fashion. RIGHT? Albeit a few days late and with no photos because I am the laziest.

You guys, listen, for reals. I know it's been bashed all over the internet from here to Clearwater, but I really and truly liked Cameron Diaz's dress. And if you know me, you know it hurts a little in the heart to praise her for anything. I could have sworn it was haute couture, but have since learned it was just little old Valentino, which is why the fit was right and when she walked, that dress just...wow. I am going to go all out and say it was the only white dress I liked. All the others put me to sleep (Kyra Sedgwick excepted!). I really have to commend her for taking a risk. I knew she and Justin should have broken up ages ago, it was good for everyone! All your hate should be firmly on Rinko Kikuchi. I guess you could say she went...BALLS OUT!

My favorite of the night was Ms. Jennifer Lopez. It's Marchesa and it's gorgeous and she wears it so well. The girl always comes camera ready and I respect that. And while Jen Garner may have won the Ben Affleck AND the baby that J.Lo wanted so badly, I have to say that it's obvious Jen Garner doesn't have a nanny. Haggard!

Hottest mommy is none other than Angelina Jolie. You guys, she wore ST. JOHN to an awards show. I mean, I just cannot love her more. Also, she looked so bored the whole time. THANK YOU. That show was boring. Start to finish.

Battle of the ingenues - America Ferrera vs. Jennifer Hudson. No contest, right? America looked amazing and her dress was so close to what I described in my "if I were going to the Golden Globes my dress would look like this" game I played in my head. Also, I love it when young starlets wear young but talented designers. Brian Reyes hasn't had many collections but he trained at Oscar De La Renta so expect big things. I saw what Jennifer Hudson was going for and I would have liked it better if she had glammed it up more. The Globes is not a funeral procession.

Obligatory Jenna Fischer/John Krasinski photo since the cast was woefully snubbed and they never even showed them on tv during the awards.

Yeah, I'm bored now. The fashion was SO BORING. I hope everyone is just putting it into reserves for the big show, the Oscars.

Good information from the TiVo people about making sure your season passes for former UPN and WB shows continue getting recorded once The CW starts up. I am really uptight about my season passes (I have way too many of them to not be) so I am planning on just deleting all my old ones and creating new ones the second they show up in my programming listings but maybe others are not quite so involved.

So - two new shows on FOX this week - Celebrity Duets (Michael Bolton! [j/k]) and Justice (Victor Garber!). Are we watching?

P.S. Someone please tell me this ISN'T true! Gross.

According to Defamer, Jen Garner and Ben Affleck finally had their baby. It's a girl! I wonder if they'll really name her Violet.

Also, Scrubs will be back on Jan. 3rd. Finally, something to calm the loss of Arrested Development. (via TV Tattle)

OH MAH GAWD!

Okay, I totally knew that Maya Rudolph was expecting a baby and was planning on working less on SNL this year,

I also knew that it was basically over between Fiona Apple and director Paul Thomas Anderson,

What I did NOT know was that Maya's baby daddy?

Gilmore Guts

Okay, you know a show is good when your 36 year old brother calls you on the phone because his recording of Gilmore Girls cut out and he is DESPERATE to know what happens! Too bad he didn't have a [info]keever to let him know ahead of time that the episode ran over. (Thanks again, Keev, and again for something else that I will get to at the end of the post.)

My thoughts )

I also have to thank Gilmore Girls for running over because it caused me to miss the first bit of Britney & Kevin: Chaotic. Oh shut up, I'm allowed a trainwreck! Unfortunately this wasn't a trainwreck it was just...boring. That's a television sin for me. Britney is you average everyday annoying girl with a video camera. It was like watching someone's vacation videos, who cares?! That's not what I wanted to see. I want to see the weird outfits, the Cheetos, the walking into public bathrooms barefoot.

It was cool to see J.C. Chasez defer the sexual position question, though. Obviously Miss Brit has not listened to his album which goes into detail about his sexual appetite.

I've been totally slacking on this, but for those that are interested, Rufus Wainwright and Ben Folds are co-headlining on a short tour this August. Ben Lee is opening.

LA-ish Dates

8/18 and 19 - Wiltern Theatre
8/20 - Las Vegas @ the Joint

Awesome!

Also...Zellweger Marries Country Singer. Crazy, huh? Although who can blame her for fleeing Jack White's weird Jacko obsession and Damien Rice's teeth.

I thought they were kidding me with this stuff, just like last year. But no, Jennifer Garner went and got pregnant. Good job, Affleck.

I'm sorry, I just can't stop laughing, hoo!

Chris Martin Disses Gwyn's Oscar.

This "article" cracks me up. I'll admit that Mr. Martin seems to have caught a big whiff of crazy lately but this part is just too much.

"Martin, 28, also claims he and Gwyneth hate glitzy showbiz parties and bin most of the invites they receive...'You'll have seen no pictures of me on any red carpets because I don't do it and neither does my lady'"

Well maybe not so much anymore she doesn't but I think she used to quite enjoy the red carpet events...

Music Has Power Awards, 2003 What?

This is a woman who has partied with Lizzie Grubman! Sure I believe in the power of change or whatever, particularly after having a child, but I prefer to mock. Also? This marriage is never going to last. Also? "My lady"? Stop talking like someone out of a period piece, Martin.

Well, I guess that's that, I lost the pool!

Brit is officially PREGTASTIC

I swear I just thought she was getting chubby. I should've known better, I mean this is Federline super sperm we're talking about here. Plus, they HAVE been married almost 7 months, COME ON! /GOB

So how long til Kevin is hooking up with Beyonce? Is Christina going to conceive twins to keep up?

Wait, is the nursery going to be decorated with Thomas Kinkade in an effort to appear artsy/pious?

Which "false tabloid" gets first baby pics?

All these questions and MORE to be answered soon enough I'm SURE.

Did you know System of a Down's lead singer Serj Tankian writes poetry? And is PUBLISHED?

We'll have to do a side by side comparison between this and Billy Corgan's book, Blinking With Fists.

I will never ever watch the Oscars without TiVo again. This was the first year I've been able to utilise it for this purpose and I am in love.

-Chris Rock = the man (the bits at the Magic Johnson theatre was awesome)
-I'm sorry but I fast forwarded through all of Beyonce's songs except for that French one because I was watching it in utter disbelief while talking to K on the phone. The voice is good, the song interpretation skill, not so good
-Jamie Foxx - 1992 called and they would like their suit back
-Hilary Swank - that dress was so ugly that I am sure that when I get to Hell, it will be the only available thing to wear. Just say no, honey.

Much much more on the show tomorrow. xo

When K told me a while back (and I mean way before Desperate Housewives) that Marcia Cross is a lesbian, I was surprised. But I really thought it was one of those things that EVERYONE knew and I didn't. Hmm...guess not!
