Now that American Idol is done for the year, it's time for the summer fun of So You Think You Can Dance. I was really excited for the show to come back and set my recording on my DVR for the show nearly two weeks ago. But, as this crappy (non-TiVo) DVR is wont to do, it "forgot." So I missed the first 25 minutes of the show and WAS SO MAD. Anyways...

Things that are Not Great

-My job is one big lesson. That lesson? Life is not fair. I resent how often I have to re-learn that here.
-That Jaguar XK8 in front of me on the 110 freeway this morning. I realize that not everyone travels that very curvy freeway everyday like I do, but I expect a car of your caliber would know how to corner at LEAST as well as my old, junky Toyota Corolla. STEP ON THE GAS, ALREADY!
-That girl Haley on American Idol. I haven't been watching with any regularity this season, but were there WORSE people than her in the Top 24?
-My laptop still out of commission. I am bereft. I barely know how to watch television without it!
-Realizing that the entire Annuals album is good and that I JUST missed their L.A. tour date.

Things That Are Great

-FOUR DAY WEEKEND! Starting tomorrow! The entirety of Team Logan getting together for only the 2nd time. We're having a spa day and fancy dinner!
-The extra fifteen minutes I spent in bed this morning. Sure it's indulgent and I was late to work, but worth it!
-My new iPod accessories. iTrip is probably the greatest thing ever. Also, I feel really bad for the people who drive with me, because NO ONE will ever get to control the radio again.
-Eyelashes. sweetcynic23 bought me the Shu Uemura eyelash curler for my birthday and it truly lives up to the hype.
-SUDEIKIS!
-Which reminds me: new 30 Rock tonight!

-When Stereogum posts anything having to do with Panic! At the Disco and the indie-er than thou blog readers freak out in the comment section, complete with, "I am SO done with this blog!"

But, let's not forget that Pink is the New Blog which is a hilarious page I found over the weekend. Today they link to some Ryan Adams unreleased tracks here.

With all the talk about album leakings, inaugural party apperances, general big buzz, renegade Seattle radio DJ's and STILL no release date in sight, my supreme ruler Fiona Apple has become quite the web celeb lately. She should seize the moment, commandeer a couple of Largo shows, charge an assload for a cover and go to town with producer Jon Brion. Or without him considering she hasn't appeared at a show with him in quite some time.

FionaApple.org has posted the track listing. Songs are showing up on a daily basis and the lyric guessers have begun their, uh, guessing.

Stereogum has now gotten into the mix, hosting a "Design your own Extraordinary Machine cover" contest that runs until Friday. The comments to that post are hilarious and so are some of those mock covers.

The good news is that the songs are backing up this buzz. They ARE different but I'm still confused as to why Sony didn't put these out to garner some sophistication/artist supporter points. I am wondering if she put out an "I'm not touring this album" vibe or otherwise declined to do any of her own press for the album and that, coupled with the non-commercial vibe of the tunes put the death knell on the project. Maybe we'll never know.

Still, it's fun to see that there are a lot of people that still care. My question is, does she?

I have not been able to give the Olympics the attention it totally deserves so I thank my Jeffy for bringing the following site to my attention. (And yes, I realise I'm the last person on EARTH to blog about this).

Also - I did happen to catch a minute or 15 of the Olympics tonight before Art dragged me out to Rhino and ice cream and what the hell kind of sport is Trampoline? I mean really. Trampoline was part of the therapy last year when I had my back problems - can I rise from the ashes of a serious back injury to become an Olympic champion? Watch out for my Bob Costas profile coming soon to an NBC near you.

TV Gal needs to get back on the meds. Is she kidding me with this crap?

Gregory Smith and Alexis Bledel in lead actor categories? WTF? That doesn't even make sense. And you all know how I feel about Adam Brody - but I think we all know that The O. C. owes its debt of gratitude to Peter Gallagher.

This column really angered me for some reason, only TV Gal has the power to do that (okay, and Pamie with the Gilmore Girls recaps). I think I need to step away from both the computer and television and relax. It's not that serious.

You know I'm an avid reader over at Pamie and an avid reader in general. Well, of magazines anyway. Well, Pamie's doing her good works again, putting together a book drive to help out public libraries in the San Diego, CA area.

I participated last year for Oakland's public libraries and I can't tell you how good I felt inside. Plus, I got the absolute sweetest thank you letter from a librarian and it just about made my year. This year, I'm a little short so I can't do much more than tell you all about it. Spread it around if you can't donate, but please donate if you can. The goodwill comes back ten thousand-fold.

Besides, San Diego just survived the latest, ridiculous Real World cast, the city could stand to get a little literary.

4) I don't even eat the disgusting Special Darks. My mom loves 'em though. Compromise!

It's the challenge that makes seeing bad movies even more fun (or really, any movie at all)! Review it while not saying the title or the actor's names at all. It took me a million years before I figured this one out but then again I haven't seen the film.

Yeah, I'm feeling kind of bloggy today, can't explain it.
