HAPPY BIRTHDAY, [info]superbonbon4!

Happy birthday to my one and only BFF! I love you so very much and miss you all the time. Thank god for daily e-mails.

I'm wishing for you all the happiness that you desire and all the blessings that you deliver to come back to you tenfold. You inspire me to be much less selfish, which is no easy feat.

I am so sappy!

I am going to make a mark like Shakespeare

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, [info]harper47!! I think you are so fabulous and I hope you have a great day.

SPEAKING of fabulous, how about [info]raelee? She posted about a contest going on at Variety's Season Pass blog for tickets to the Paley Center's Project Runway panel and I was able to jump in and enter - and I got tickets!

I was jazzed enough because I love Project Runway, I've been watching it since it first began airing on Bravo, BUT then I went back to get more info on the event and guess who is going to be there?!

Only my favorite designer ever to appear on the show**!!! SANTINO. I will be in the presence of greatness.

This calls for a new outfit. Thank you, [info]raelee! Go check out her tv blog if you get a chance. Lots of great stuff posted there.

**Ok, my favorite is really Jay, but Santino's a close, very close, second.

This is why I hate bird of paradise!

Happy Birthday [info]keever (sorry, I'm late) and [info]briasoleil!

I just decided to keep doing blathering entries. Sorry if that doesn't work for you.

Our running group started over a week ago Saturday so I'm back on the wagon with that. I ran three times last week but also had a metric ton of Halloween candy, a much-needed Taco Bell fix, and a large bucket of awesomely buttered popcorn. After that epic fight of healthy vs. unhealthy over the week, the dust settled and I still lost a pound. HA! I'm taking it as some sort of achievement, though I'm not really trying. I'm starting yoga class again tonight.

I thought I had broken my sad, so sad, addiction to Yahoo!/Playfirst/BigFish video games (I hit bottom when I spent an entire weekend - TWO DAYS NON-STOP! - building a candy empire while simultaneously reuniting a family on Chocolatier) when Heather started me up again with something called Paradise Pet Salon. You take on a corporate giant with just a plucky attitude and a talent for grooming animals! Awesome. Less awesome was my productivity as I sat most of the night (on a SATURDAY, good lord) playing that damned game. I gave myself a headache from staring at the computer for too long.

Let's talk Moonlight. Well, for those of you still watching anyway. This silly show has really snuck up on us, hasn't it?
Spoilers for last Friday's ep and preview talk )

Last night, Art and I went to see Michael Clayton, the latest George Clooney movie. It's an excellent film. I thought the story was so well told and it should be a primer for "show, not tell." I thought I had the story figured out soon after the movie started and was so SO wrong. It zigged when I thought it would zag. The performances were outstanding, particularly Tom Wilkinson, as a lawyer gone mad over the case he's dedicated the latter part of his career. I need to add In the Bedroom (Wilkinson was nominated for an Oscar for it) to my Netflix queue. The writer/director also wrote all the Bourne movies but this was his first shot as a director. Impressive. Anyway, if you like legal thrillers or amazing acting, I recommend!

How was your weekend?

EDIT: HILARITY. Shia is the most enjoyable trainwreck.

Last night was fun, Art and I made margaritas, watched silly television shows and waited up for my brother-in-law to return from his date, so we could grill him. We are becoming an old (and nosy) married couple.

I really am tired of it being summer. I guess I have a freedom in saying that because the seasonal shift isn't as noticeable here as it is in say, Chicago, but I am sick of the heat, sick of the sun for a million hours a day, and sick of no new eps of my television shows.

Speaking of Chicago, HAPPY BIRTHDAY [info]arielrose! I think you are the bees knees and I can't believe you've gotten so old! Heh.

My e-mail was fruitful this morning, I like that. There is going to be a MOVIE ABOUT LARGO! And here is an extended trailer.

I know most people outside of L.A. are like, "Hmmmmm?" But seriously, if you are interested in music/stand-up at all, you should see this because that right there is what my favorite club is all about. Though, I am not sure where they got the footage of people dancing. I've only seen one person dance in all the times I've been to Largo and she tried to get on stage and dance and Flanagan almost kicked her out. Plus, it looks so beautifully shot and there's an extended David Garza segment that reminds me that I haven't seen him since Austin. TRAVESTY.

Ok, what's next in the link parade?

Right, Fiona Apple )

for Jason Dohring completists only )

Does anyone still remember Matt Czuchry? )

All right, that's it for the links I think. And this post is a monster so I'll leave it be for now.

I live! I'm back at work after a whirlwind of a week - here is the update in quick list format:

-[info]superbonbon4 was a wonderful host to me for a few days last week and I had SO MUCH FUN. Plus, my allergies are not as concerned with her adorable cats as they have been previously. I will mark that down as a win. Also a win? Peanut Butter rice krispie treats.
-Rufus Wainwright. Oh my god, I love him SO MUCH. I saw him perform his new album in its entirety last week in San Francisco and he just won me right on over all over again. I am back to talking about him/listening to him constantly. It's annoying, I know it. A huge nostalgic bonus was sharing this experience with the same dear people that attended my very first Rufus show just over five years ago. It was amazing seeing the old tour gang again. Fortuitous - after exhaustion set in, I missed the San Diego show, but my awesome friend B found me a ticket to see him tomorrow here in Los Angeles.
-Knitting. K helped me get over a few humps and I finally finished the scarf I started while on vacation in Seattle. I started another beginning project this weekend but it's a slower knit so I am trying to be patient with it. Pictures and more knitting stuff is forthcoming in an entry that will be more easily skippable for those non-interested.
-Sing Along Songs. GIANT HAPPY BIRTHDAY GREETINGS for [info]aprilbegins! I attended her karaoke birthday party last night and it was the perfect capper to a great weekend. I had so much fun and realized that one martini is NOT enough to convincingly sing Gwen Stefani's "Rich Girl," but it is just enough to sing Daniel Bedingfield and not be the least bit embarrassed.
tl-jason wears it well
I had all these big picspam dreams for today and then, over the weekend, the power adaptor for my laptop went to the big computer accessories store in the sky. It bought the farm, it breathed it's last breath, IT DIED. I am obviously verklempt over it. I really miss my laptop. This is also the reason I haven't been around much the past few days.

BUT! Enough about me...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY LITTLE SIS, [info]sweetcynic23!

She's amazing and fabulous, but those of you who have met her already know that. She is part of my sanity team and has to deal with way too much of my ranting, but she does it with a smile. Except for the times when she lets me know to stuff it, already. Which is often, because I never know when to let GO.

So happy birthday to Heather, my partner in (sometimes, actual) crime, my couch's most frequent resident, my cooking teacher, my music swapper, my friend who never says "yes" to the question, "is this too crazy?", the one person I know who really loves Karen Fillipelli, and, the other guy in "I love those guys." I love that girl.

I'm sitting here at work, enjoying my green tea and a piece of the german chocolate brownie cake I got last night when duh, I realized it's a big day!

Happy Birthday, [info]buffyx!

Welcome to the 20's - a fantastic decade to be in, if I do say so myself. I hope you have a fun day that doesn't involve freezing any portions of your body off out in the tundra. Go watch The Departed, you know you want to!

And I did end up watching shows last night,

Hey!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY [info]maka2000!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY [info]expatiates!!!

You guys are both super fantastic and I am happy that we are LJ friends.

T, I always listen to (and enjoy) your phone posts and always look forward to whatever layout you will put up next. You also single-handedly introduced me to some great music (Speechwriters, LLC - holla!). I hope you have a great year with all new and exciting adventures. Go Blake Lewis!

D, you're a very talented designer and I hope that leads to all sorts of new opportunities for you. I am still sad I didn't go to Lolla and meet you. I love your positive outlook and general level-headedness. But, I swear, Barney/Robin forever.

This is a big day for me.

First - Happy Birthday to C (aka - [info]starspentswell. Knowing you has enriched my life and I wouldn't have it any other way. I love you. I hope you and your new wife (not husband - :) ) have a great day together.

Annnd - we are no longer eligible for The Newlywed Game. Because this photo was taken two years ago today. Happy Anniversary, [info]singlestringwiz!

Last night after seeing The Departed (two thumbs up!) and over sushi, Art and I discussed how we spent the morning of our wedding day (we were married at 6pm). I woke up at 8, listened to my mother yell at me over some detail that wasn't yet completed (like, thanks), my bridesmaids met me at the hotel soon after and the make-up and hair people arrived and we started getting ready with other stressful little things poking through throughout the morning.

Art woke up at 10, went to a leisurely breakfast with his buddies/groomsmen, hung out for a while, then started getting ready. Ugh - they have it so much easier!

Two down, only forever to go. I love him more every day.

The Top Three Things That Made My Heart Stop Today (End of September Edition)

03. Seeing the "Check Engine" light on my car pop up just 24 hours (and 50 miles) after I paid over $400 in car repairs.

02. While walking out of the grocery, seeing a tall, thin man dressed all in black walk up to the store with half a bandanna covering his face and looking a bit deranged. I was seriously considering calling 911 when I saw him rip off the bandanna and my eyes followed his steps away from a motorcycle. Hi, I'm paranoid.

and #1 - Realizing too late that I didn't properly wish Clara a Happy Birthday. [info]girlcontinuum, I hope it was all you wanted and more. You're fantastic.

First things first: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, [info]hellopoe!!! I cannot tell you how many days of mine you have made brighter thanks to our shared obsessions. I was thrilled to meet you in Austin and are you SURE there's no way to get you down here for Comic Con??

Okay, I can't tell you how exciting it is to see that there are other people on my friends list who follow Big Brother. I remember when I first started watching with BB3, it was a shameful secret that I shared with [info]superbonbon4 and my friend Jeff. Now I'm just going to bring it out into the open since there are so many of you. It's one of the only shows that still gets me to actually scream at my television. Once it starts, I basically am glued to the house for the days that the show airs even though I already know what's going to air because I'm a live feed addict. That's right, for the uninitiated, a large part of the show takes place online with the live feeds that show what is going on in the house at all times. It's all very exciting with a giant element of stupid. Just like the summer season itself.

So, I'm going to share my very favorite Big Brother links and sites and encourage those of you who watch to share your favorite online haunts as well. I am so psyched at how this season has started off - all the game playing popped up SO early.
Following the live feeds )

Main Show Recaps )
So that's where I'll be spending most of my internet time for the next few months or so, if you've got a site I need to check out, please comment! I love this stupid show (and I'll love it more the second Alison is evicted from the house).

In other news, Happy Birthday to [info]staygold70 who is awesome.

In even other news, I already miss Everwood and the finale hasn't even aired yet. Oh, Abbotts and Browns, what will I do without you? My husband, on the other hand, is thrilled. He always hates when he actually sits down in our living room with me, only to find out I'm sobbing over the latest Colorado development.

Greetings!

It's my little sister's birthday! Big, giant smooshy hugs and birthday greetings to Heather, aka [info]sweetcynic23.

We spent most of yesterday together, and didn't get into one diva fight - it was awesome.

I have a larger "Heather's Birthday" entry coming up, but it will have to wait until after work today since I'm swamped. Tam and I toasted to our girl last night at my house during the horrendous and yet compusively watchable E! post Oscar coverage.

Speaking of the Oscars, the less I say about it the better. I was not a fan of Crash, the movie that thinks it's more important than it really is, and I still haven't had the chance to see Brokeback Mountain. I was thrilled to see Phillip Seymour Hoffman win because I did see Capote and he made that movie so watchable and compelling, even when I was disgusted by his character's actions. Longtime readers know my favorite thing is the clothing so I'll talk about that in a later post sometime this week.

Happy Birthday, [info]singlestringwiz!

It's my husband's birthday. For the next 11 weeks, we're the same age. Welcome to 27, baby. It's fun, I promise.

Thanks for being the best and most patient husband this girl could ask for. You do my laundry, you don't complain when I make our meals out of the microwave for weeks at a time, you listen to my endless squeefests about Veronica Mars (and actually watch it) and only ONCE have you said, "Okay, either leave me for Jason Dohring or give it a rest." You're my unfailing support system and the reason I can be who I am. For that and more, I am grateful.

Okay - that was just cheesy enough, I think.

This weekend I tried to make it all about him - we slept in a ton, enjoyed a very fancy dinner at Delmonico's Seafood Grille at Paseo, he went out with friends and we spent a day in jammies. Good times. Tonight it's Sarah Silverman stand-up. She's his (other) dream woman. I love birthdays.

I can't believe it but Flanagan actually called me the other night to offer me a table for Jon Brion's 12/9 show. I was trying to get in for the 12/2 show for [info]singlestringwiz's birthday. I haven't been able to get a table in forever. Last time I had to wait for a seat at the bar and they basically ignored my late September begging for a November table. Another reason to regret his working with Kanye West. [info]sweetcynic23, I ripped the album for you and will send it tonight while we watch Veronica Mars.

[info]2stars4arms reminded me to squee with delight because Fiona Apple and the aforementioned Jon Brion are working on releasing the version of Extraordinary Machine that Brion produced. The article (I'm too lazy to link it this morning) mentions that the version that leaked to the internet was not ready and that Jon and Fiona wanted the complete version available to us diehards. This thrills me for so many reasons, but mainly for this one: the strings will return!! Jon + Fiona 4 ever!

My K, who rocks in so many ways, sent me word today that David Garza is opening up for Fiona on this tour! I am so excited! I love David! This will be great exposure for him. Anyone on my friends list who has tickets for this tour, I urge you to get there early to see David's set. He has great songs, a great voice, he dresses like a bum and he tells jokes that only I laugh at.

Quickly:

Happy birthday, [info]idreamofpeace! I hope you have a stress-free and very fun day! I wish you much luck in finding Veronica clothes and plenty of money to buy them!

Thank you, California! I'll take this as a mandate that California is done with you Arnold. You never should have been elected in the first place.

Okay, nose is officially to the grindstone. I need to power through a ton of work today so I can fully enjoy the ass-slapping tonight! EDIT: I just realized how unbelievably dirty that sounds. I meant on Veronica Mars, I swear. God, how embarrassing.

I took up K on her invitation and I signed up over at Skype. If you decide to sign up, go add sincastar and then we can talk over the computer. Ooh, technology, the mind boggles.

Also, congrats to my K as she and her husband opened escrow on a condo yesterday! I'm so excited for them! Now I have a permanent place to hang my hat when I go up there, but my attempts to lure her back home will be even more futile now. However, since the H&M is opening up in SF I may just move up there myself. Stella McCartney on the cheap? Color me IN.

Happy Birthday to [info]briasoleil, one of the awesome co-mods over at [info]neptune_style and a Canadian! That's ultra cool points right there. Enjoy your day and your vegan cake!

Okay, [info]singlestringwiz wants me to actually go outside today so I've gotta go. Have a great Saturday!

I screwed up and my hair appointment is today, it wasn't yesterday. So I am still currently rocking the ROOTS FROM HELL. Two o'clock can't come fast enough.

Tonight, I'll be furiously looking for my gym membership card because [info]sweetcynic23 got me thinking about going to yoga class again and I found out that there is class tomorrow morning that I might check out. Then I'll be uploading songs, catching up on television and working on stuff for [info]neptune_style.

Tomorrow, [info]phoenix8 is taking the CSET which is a big deal test that she's been stressing out over. Go hit her journal and wish her luck. After she completely kicks that test's ass, Team Logan will be winding down with chocolate, drinking and debauchery. Good times.

Sunday, Art and I are going to attempt to visit Original Friend C and her family but when we called OFC said everyone was sick. So that day is still up in the air.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY [info]daynr! You are the awesomest and most fierce woman in the VM4. I admire your ability to get stuff done. Have a great day.

So, friends list, what are you doing this weekend??

Cheers!!!
