I'm trying for the quick update. Edit: Sorry if you saw this twice, it wasn't showing up on my Friends list earlier, so I am reposting
Saturday's show by The Decemberists was amazing. I was really blown away by how much fun it seemed like everyone was having, from the crowd to the performers. I also could not believe that the Bowl was nearly sold out (attendance ended up being in the 14,000's) for Band of Horses, Andrew Bird and The Decemberists. They definitely didn't disappoint with the set list either. I was a squealing idiot when they played my favorite song "We Both Go Down Together." I don't remember everything and I definitely don't remember the order, but they played:
-The Crane Wife 1&2
-The Infanta
-We Both Go Down Together
-Los Angeles, I'm Yours (how could they not?)
-Odalisque
-O Valencia
-The Perfect Crime #2
-The Tain
-I Was Meant for the Stage
-The Chimbley Sweep
Blessed with the help of the LA Philharmonic, it was all so beautiful. I took some video of Odalisque, and it's here.
Also, I cannot, CANNOT recommend Andrew Bird enough. Seriously. He very nearly stole the night playing his violin and guitar practically at the same time. And whistling! I mean, I listen to lots of crap, but I think Andrew is a real artist and I feel lucky now that I was able to see him play Largo all those years ago. Our seats were pretty good, but not good enough to take decent photos. I suggest going to Flickr if you want to see how it all looked. I think I'll be hard pressed to find a better concert this year, but I still have Rufus doing the Judy show in September so, game on.
And now for the shallow waters of Big Brother 8. This will include talk from the live feeds but I'm not caught up on them yet so nothing past Monday. Spoilers for all aired CBS eps, though.

I was really unsuccessful with the short update. Keep the Harry Potter updates coming, friends list! I am not going til Friday evening. My hat won't be finished and now I'm mad.
OH YEAH - tomorrow is the 12th, fellow documentarians! Don't forget the 12 of 12.

Happy Birthday to my Skins pusher,
truemyth! Wow, lovely!
Just a sidenote, a couple of weeks ago, I happened upon a thread in
indie_exchange about Skins (random, I know) and a commenter said that the previews for the show made them think they had wasted their youth being good and they now want to rewind ten years, party, drink, have tons of sex and drug it up. I say - exactly. Being a good teen-ager or even a healthy adult is overrated.
Okay - my tivo got all backed up while I was watching everything going on in Bristol so here's a rundown on what I finally caught up on.
( Entourage )
( John from Cincinatti )
( Hell's Kitchen )
I also watched Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List but I don't think it's that much of a discussion show so whatever. I'm enjoying this season a lot so far. I was also VERY PLEASED to program my yearly summer tryst with Big Brother into my Tivo last night. It starts next week and spoilers are already flying. I'm looking forward to it! I'm also ordering Showtime this week so I can pick up the Big Brother After Dark stuff. Whatever, I'm beyond shame you guys.

First things first: HAPPY BIRTHDAY,
hellopoe!!! I cannot tell you how many days of mine you have made brighter thanks to our shared obsessions. I was thrilled to meet you in Austin and are you SURE there's no way to get you down here for Comic Con??

Okay, I can't tell you how exciting it is to see that there are other people on my friends list who follow Big Brother. I remember when I first started watching with BB3, it was a shameful secret that I shared with
superbonbon4 and my friend Jeff. Now I'm just going to bring it out into the open since there are so many of you. It's one of the only shows that still gets me to actually scream at my television. Once it starts, I basically am glued to the house for the days that the show airs even though I already know what's going to air because I'm a live feed addict. That's right, for the uninitiated, a large part of the show takes place online with the live feeds that show what is going on in the house at all times. It's all very exciting with a giant element of stupid. Just like the summer season itself.
So, I'm going to share my very favorite Big Brother links and sites and encourage those of you who watch to share your favorite online haunts as well. I am so psyched at how this season has started off - all the game playing popped up SO early.
( Following the live feeds )
( Main Show Recaps )
So that's where I'll be spending most of my internet time for the next few months or so, if you've got a site I need to check out, please comment! I love this stupid show (and I'll love it more the second Alison is evicted from the house).

chellepear! See you in a few hours!

I am not reading my friends list. I am not reading my friends list. I hate pre-emptions!!
Okay - my biggest tv watching confession ever (unless you're a long time LJ friend and then you already know) - and
superbonbon4 and
raelee don't be trying to hide behind me. Be out and proud! I love me some Big Brother and I watch it every damned summer. Except when eventually I start to hate everyone on the show and then I have to stop watching to preserve whatever sanity I have left. BUT! This year I might make it through the entire thing or not even through the first week.
All-Star edition, BABY!
God - the possibilities are endless. I might need to see Roddy return.
Also - this is probably why Veronica Mars should run year round.
