Well, thanks to some very fine people on LJ (particularly
naty_ and
elizajoey), I've finally downloaded Driver Ed. However, once I started the download, I went to go get my new DirecTV DVR set up and by the time that hassle was over, Art had taken over the computer and I was losing my battle (again) with this cold. I started to watch Alias but then I couldn't deal with the effort of keeping my eyes open anymore and I went to bed, yes it was like 8:30. So after all that, I STILL HAVE NOT seen this episode! I'm so frustrated. And I still have the headache I contracted last night after dealing with the DirecTV folks. I can't wait to go home, throw on my jammies, get a cup of tea and a blanket and just watch it already. I'm also a week behind on Everwood so I'll get to have a mini-marathon of Bright Abbott. TV, my other drug.
I've had my original recipe TiVo for five years now (it just had its anniversary!) and after getting it set up I really have had no problems with it at all. A few hiccups here and there but nothing to worry about. Nothing at all compared to getting the new DirecTV TiVo set up. Here, in handy steps are all we had to deal with last night:

Holy shit you guys, I'm totally going to talk about a television show that isn't Veronica Mars or Big Brother 6. Thank your lucky stars.
Tonight is all about Alias. But, it's Alias casting/minor plot spoilers so if you don't wanna know, don't click the cut. I usually don't swim around with spoilers but I'm a lot less rabid about Alias nowadays so I become weak in the face of spoilers. Whatever...I'm proceeding now.

Thanks for all the great responses to my Top 5 meme! You posted some big challenges for me! Some will need a bit more space than others so I'm going to split it up between posts. Also, I'm totally avoiding my Comic-Con recap, so this helps. Lots! You can go here to request others if you missed it the first time around or thought of a new category. Enjoy!

Okay that was way harder than I thought it would be. It took forever for just those three categories. I should learn to be not so long-winded. More on the way!

For those that were curious: ( Alias )
Okay, well the Upfronts are all over and my outrage has subsided a bit. Laurel at TVPicks has the best grid. I can't really comment on new shows yet but it's breaking down for me like this:
Mondays: Arrested Development is the only definite
Tuesdays: Gilmore Girls, Amazing Race
Wednesdays: Veronica Mars is my only definite
Thursdays: Everwood is my only definite
Sundays: The Simpsons, Grey's Anatomy
I'm more upset than I thought I would be about the cancellation of Joan of Arcadia and I'm really pissed that Eyes wasn't given more of a chance. I am still deciding whether or not I will continue with Alias and Without a Trace which are the shows that linger longest on my TiVo.
I have a lot of collisions with old shows I like vs. new shows I would really like to try out but I have months to figure all that out. The Veronica vs. Lost debacle has already started a battle at my house. I don't decide on my new shows until my favourite issue of Entertainment Weekly shows up in my mailbox.
Also, for those of you who worry about my brain cells: fear not. I've recently purchased two actual BOOKS to read (wow!) and I promise that I will keep my tv posting to a bare minimum at least until Big Brother 6 starts in July.

Okay, this, while not technically a spoiler, is not something you want to click on if you don't even want to know what "might" happen. Still, I have a hard time believing it could be kept a secret anyway.
UNLESS, this is all part of JJ's big plan. *shrugs*

Dear fans of TV's Alias not in the LA area:
The show is STILL set in L.A. Yes we DO have a subway system. It is also called the Metro. It is believable that Sydney could escape into APO without detection because NO ONE rides the Metro. No one. Those empty platforms were not a plot device, it's reality! I actually thought that was a clever spot in the show. Hey, maybe Fuzz Department will get a shout out, since we patrol the rails. Anyway, just STOP saying the show was moved and it doesn't make sense that Sydney has the same apartment. Please.
Your friend,
sinca

The "Jennichael" reign of terror is now over. Heh. Oh just kidding. (not really)
Oh yeah, and Alias is filming again. Woo hoo!

I dunno. I think I'm just crabby because I'm tired. I am excited that J. J. is going to be taking a more hands-on approach and can't wait to see what that means for the show. Whedonverse writers can't be a bad thing, right? (You all know I'm a Whedon novice, save for episodes of Roseanne) And I'll bitch about it but there's no way I'll ever abandon the show, I'm just crazy about it. I guess it's just wait and see.

When I heard about this a couple of weeks ago on the radio, I very nearly crashed my car. I just told Art the other day that it was the only thing I wanted for my birthday. And now, it's sold out and I can't go.
The Museum of Television and Radio is hosting a festival. The first night of the festival is a workshop with J.J. Abrams about Creating Characters. Already, this is clearly something I would want to attend considering J.J. created my two favourite all-time television characters.
But then who will be at the workshop with him?
Not only Jennifer Garner who I talk about incessantly in this LJ and who plays Sydney Bristow on Alias, but also,
Keri Russell, who was Felicity. Felicity. My favouritest show ever.
Blah. Tickets for the general public went out over the weekend and now they're gone. I know I sound like a pathetic tv fiend, but HELLO! You should have known that about me by now. I kind of hate the world right now.

I got through only five pages of thread on TWOP's Alias board before I couldn't take it anymore. God! They get so indignant! The episode threads always remind me why I only read the recaps nowadays.
( Okay, Alias chatter here )
It's all set up now, JJ, knock it out of the park!
