Pop Quiz! Three guesses and the first two don't count.

Who wants to guess what happened when I got way too lazy/busy/whatever to get a refill on my birth control prescription? Let's not get too personal here, but forgetting to take a pill or neglecting to fill a prescription for say, MONTHS is something I have done A LOT in the time I have been married. Oh, okay and before I was married. And there have been no consequences! UNTIL NOW!

I'm totes pregnant. Knocked up. Bun in the oven. Art and I are expecting a child in December. I KNOW, RIGHT?! A human being. Lord help us all.

Maybe the sheer force of will of not wanting to have children kept me safe before. (THAT'S A JOKE. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE ANY FAMILY PLANNING ADVICE FROM ME). But we let our guard down and changed our minds and next thing you know, we're prepping to be parents. It's taken time to get used to the whole idea, but we are feeling blessed.

More info if you're interested )

So that's what's been going on with me! I really need to get to bed, keep reminding myself that I am not off tomorrow.

Ladies protect those ovaries!

Quickly:

From my NY Times e-mail this morning:
Early Warning Signs for Ovarian Cancer. Ovarian cancer is a tough thing for women because there is no screening for it and there are doctors who will often dismiss patient's concerns. In a lot of cases, by the time they find ovarian cancer it's in a very late stage. These warning symptoms are not perfect, but they are at least something to keep in mind til science catches up.

From my Women's Wear Daily e-mail this morning:
Every day they advertise a "Job Listing of the Day" and it's usually something generally fancy but sometimes it's just funny. Because the industry is inherently funny. Here's today's example:

Apparel Graphic Designer
San Francisco Apparel Company needs Graphic Designer for a hip Dog Apparel Line. Very modern brand with tons of personality. The look is very bright and copy driven. Need strong Illustration skills, ability to work under pressure, create color palettes, mechanical skills, i.e. scaling t-shirts to size, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
Apply at wwd@24seveninc.com

Hip dog apparel! All joking aside though, the job sounds pretty cool.

Okay, time to hit the trenches. I LOVE that four entries in a row on my friend's list today were 12 of 12's. You guys rule.

Thank GOD that the big family event that was conflicting with my very first The Decemberists show has been canceled. I just got an e-mail that the opening act will be none other than ANDREW BIRD! That's fantastic news (for me and him)!

Good information from the TiVo people about making sure your season passes for former UPN and WB shows continue getting recorded once The CW starts up. I am really uptight about my season passes (I have way too many of them to not be) so I am planning on just deleting all my old ones and creating new ones the second they show up in my programming listings but maybe others are not quite so involved.

So - two new shows on FOX this week - Celebrity Duets (Michael Bolton! [j/k]) and Justice (Victor Garber!). Are we watching?

P.S. Someone please tell me this ISN'T true! Gross.

Attention L.A. Area LJ Friends

Busy Saturday night? Interested in the sold-out Fiona Apple/Damien Rice concert? (David Garza is opening). I have two extra tickets for this show. The seats are in Section C, Row D, Seats 126 and 128. Seating Chart Here

If you have deduced that I happened to score better seats, you are correct. But don't hold that against me! Also - the Greek is a great venue where there really is not a bad seat and it will be a great evening to sit under the stars and hear some amazing music. Here's the thing: I know it's late notice, so I am willing to sell these under face, but I would prefer not to just give them away. The actual ticket price (incl. those nasty Ticketmaster fees) is 60 bucks each. So, if you want them, it's first come first served - we'll work something out. Tickets will be available to my LJ friends for a day or so and then I'll throw them up on Craigslist.

If you need more convincing, consider this: The Greek Theatre has amazing chili & cheese fries.

Anyone else a Muse fan, such as myself? I was way late on their train, not falling in love with their last album Absolution until they had finished all their L.A. tour dates. That's me, always on the fast track! The band is releasing a new album in the U.S. on July 11th and have released some preliminary tour dates!

Here are a couple tracks off the new album (change links from hxxp to http):

Pee-Wee's Playhouse Swims up to CN

Pee-Wee's Playhouse! On Adult Swim! It almost makes me want to wear underwear as a hat and start talking to my couch. No, I don't currently talk to my couch. Shut up, I don't!

In other news, Happy Birthday to [info]staygold70 who is awesome.

In even other news, I already miss Everwood and the finale hasn't even aired yet. Oh, Abbotts and Browns, what will I do without you? My husband, on the other hand, is thrilled. He always hates when he actually sits down in our living room with me, only to find out I'm sobbing over the latest Colorado development.

Good news! Season three of Project Runway begins on July 12! I'm a bit concerned that having another one right on the heels of the awesome season two is a mistake, I like the idea of having one season a year. But, it's a better opportunity for the designers/contestants because the final challenge will occur during New York's Fall Fashion Week as opposed to the less publicized Spring Fashion Week.

Still, I'm not over the awesomeness of the Santino and Uncle Nick drama. Or the motherfuckin' walk-off. For those of you like me, couldn't get enough of season two, the DVD will drop on June 27. I can finally delete the hilarious reunion show off my tivo.

Here's hoping the next crop of designers bring it. And I hope Jay McCarroll, the first season's winner and my favorite reality person in the history of ever, shows up to get all bitchy in judging again.

Hey The Office U.S. fans - John Krasinski will be on my favorite morning radio show, Kevin and Bean this morning. They say he will be on during the "7:00 hour" and the station streams over the internet so if you want to tune in, head to K-ROQ's website.

Since this is bumbling through my friends list, I don't know of anyone who would be interested in this who hasn't already tried it (except maybe for my K), but this program will let you choose a song from your computer and then they will send it to you as a ringtone! EEEE! I am a totally a ringtone addict! I FINALLY have "We Used to Be Friends"!!! Yay for VM pimping with annoying ringtones. Even more yay for it actually working with my Verizon phone! Most of these types of independent ringtone types never work with my service!

Once you sign up you can even choose which part of the song you want as the ringtone, it's super keen!

MyxerTonesâ„¢ - Ringtones from YOUR Music.

If you sign up through my link I get extra free ringtones, so be a dear will you? Once you run out of free tones, they aren't expensive to purchase credits and there are plenty of opportunity to earn more free ones. Big thanks to [info]txtequilanights whose post was the first one I saw. You do not know how long I have wanted "We Used to Be Friends" as my tone and now my day is already made.

I really cannot ask for a better fall, I really can't.

Just go here. Now. Listen to her.

Even a new promo pic!

And she is the only thing in the world that will get me to reinstall iTunes.

Special thanks to [info]fluttergirl for making my entire morning one hundred and fifty times better.

I'm totally ignoring that they took Jon's producing credit away.

Rainy Day Come Again

I didn't have time for breakfast this morning because I was getting some stuff ready for the carpet cleaning guys and fooling around on the internet. When lunch time came around I was STARVING. I decided to go to Subway and have a sandwich and maybe some of their super good Broccoli Cheese soup. I love that soup, especially when it's cold outside, it's so rich and yummy.

I ordered a tuna on wheat instead of my normal Subway Club and the soup of my dreams. Then the girl behind the counter mentioned that if I bought a soda, my soup would be free. !!! "Well, okay then!" was my overjoyed answer. It's a new promotion over there to make up for the demise of the much beloved Sub Club cards/stamps. If it's raining and you buy a 6in. sub and a soda, you can get another sandwich or a soup for free! Free! I love yummy free soup! I have never been so excited about the rain here ever!

Anyways, speaking of rain and food, am I the only one who read this book as a child? Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. I mentioned the little burg of Chewandswallow to Art last week and he had never heard of it! Kesha hadn't either! I have such fond memories of reading this book, I can't believe that not every little kid got to experience the joy of a town where it rains food.

And that's my Monday.

Forgive me for the late news but I just got off a plane from paradise 10 hours ago. We came home to find that our upstairs balcony leaked rain water into our bedroom and downstairs dining area. We haven't had a chance to bring over my bed so the only thing that we have to sleep on is currently soaked! Yay! We're married adults! Where's my mommy?

ANYWAYS, none of that matters now because Chris Rock is hosting the Oscars. Awesome! Can you imagine him sticking it to Jack Nicholson in the front row? I can't wait.

Also, today is the last day to register to vote in California. GO! Register! Now! And then Get Off the Internet and Vote.

I'll hopefully be catching up with all my LJ pals tonight! How 'bout them Sox, [info]keever?

See You at the Library!

You know I'm an avid reader over at Pamie and an avid reader in general. Well, of magazines anyway. Well, Pamie's doing her good works again, putting together a book drive to help out public libraries in the San Diego, CA area.

I participated last year for Oakland's public libraries and I can't tell you how good I felt inside. Plus, I got the absolute sweetest thank you letter from a librarian and it just about made my year. This year, I'm a little short so I can't do much more than tell you all about it. Spread it around if you can't donate, but please donate if you can. The goodwill comes back ten thousand-fold.

Besides, San Diego just survived the latest, ridiculous Real World cast, the city could stand to get a little literary.

Thanks!

It's Decidedly "Abrams-esque"

When I heard about this a couple of weeks ago on the radio, I very nearly crashed my car. I just told Art the other day that it was the only thing I wanted for my birthday. And now, it's sold out and I can't go.

The Museum of Television and Radio is hosting a festival. The first night of the festival is a workshop with J.J. Abrams about Creating Characters. Already, this is clearly something I would want to attend considering J.J. created my two favourite all-time television characters.

But then who will be at the workshop with him?

Not only Jennifer Garner who I talk about incessantly in this LJ and who plays Sydney Bristow on Alias, but also,

Keri Russell, who was Felicity. Felicity. My favouritest show ever.

Blah. Tickets for the general public went out over the weekend and now they're gone. I know I sound like a pathetic tv fiend, but HELLO! You should have known that about me by now. I kind of hate the world right now.
