So this morning, I was on my way to work and listening to Kevin & Bean, my favorite morning radio duo, and they were having an argument with Ralph, the entertainment guy about: LIP BALM ADDICTION. Ralph said he had recently become a lip balm addict and Kevin and Bean were like, "that's IMPOSSIBLE." They had on the (extremely bizarre) webmaster of Lip Balm Anonymous and then took callers who told of their own addictions. I got to work at that time, so I am planning to download the show so I can hear the rest of the segment, but I am admitting it right now. My name is Susan, and I'm a lip balm addict. I need to keep it near me at all times. I have a pot of Burt's Bees cherry flavored balm at my bedside, a stick of Avon lip balm in my bathroom drawer, a honey flavored balm by The Savannah Bee Co., and of course, Smith's Rosebud Salve in my desk drawer at work. It's ridiculous, I KNOW, but I can't stop and if I am somewhere without it, I start feeling a little uncomfortable, knowing that my lips will be feeling like cardboard until I get near my balm again. Someone please confirm to me that I am not alone!

So hypothetical you has:
-a little chunk of change coming,
-some actual vacation time saved up due to switching jobs and not being able to take a day off at the drop of a hat like at your old job,
-a good amount of wanderlust,
Where would you plan to go on vacation next May or June?

Okay, those of you who are also on
singlestringwiz's friends list knew this was coming. I totally caved when I found out how easy it is to stalk people. All those people from my HS? Still idiots! My nieces and nephews? Crazy hyper teen-agers with awful pages!

Add me and give me something to look at. Or give me a minute and I'll use my superior stalking skills to find YOU. *insert evil laugh here*

I was going to attempt to not update today until I got some more work done but I just can't. I'm too excited. I'm going to see Fiona Apple tonight! I read all the reviews in the communities (and a very lovely one by
2stars4arms) and tried to wait as patiently as possible, but yesterday I couldn't really control my excitement anymore and kind of bubbled over. It's still going on right now. You guys, it's been over five years since the last time I saw her in a full concert. Tonight David Garza is opening and wow, I am so excited. Excited enough to sort of forgive the person somewhere who wrote that David sounds like Jason Mraz. (It took all I had to not leave a snark-filled comment on that because - NO) A few warnings - I WILL act like a fool and I WILL cry. And I WILL call K during any song she wants.
singlestringwiz and I are leaving right when he gets out of work and then I'll be staking out the venue (we're heading down to the show in San Diego since I was a moron and missed the on sale for L.A.).
mutinousmuse, I'll be looking for you but seriously, I will be a freak so that might encourage you to hide from me.
Fiona Apple's cover of a Jimi Hendrix song caused me to start talking to this skinny kid I worked with. The first time I saw Fiona Apple in concert (December 1997), the skinny kid was by my side, we had been dating two months. Her next tour was for When the Pawn..., and when the on sale for tickets was announced (just the on sale, ANNOUNCED) I screamed in delight in my drive way. She played two shows at the Wiltern and I went to both, the first night with Art, the skinny kid, and the second with O.C. E from Eels opened. That was it until I was lucky enough to catch her at Largo a few times, whenever Jon Brion would pull her reluctantly on stage for a song or two. Now, that skinny kid is still skinny but is now my husband and not a kid and there's no one else I'd rather have with me. Also, he'll put up with the freaking out and the crying with minimal complaining.
Tonight! I can't wait!

Okay, well,
starspentswell and
sweetcynic23 covered a lot of the day already but I just need to get it out of my system. It wasn't enough that I gushed it all out to my husband during brunch, I still am on squee overload. I need to apologize publicly to New Friend C because I did leave her, D and Grace out of the phone post. I am blaming it on JD-induced stupidness but really, I am so scatter-brained I don't know how anyone puts up with me. Apologies, loves.
Let's see...well, some of you could tell from an earlier post that when I got up yesterday morning, I was pretty cynical about actually getting to meet Jason Dohring (who stars as Logan Echolls on Veronica Mars if anyone who is reading is like, "WTF?"). Considering he would be working on a house for Habitat for Humanity and this wasn't exactly a Veronica Mars event I thought we'd probably get a glimpse of him or whatever, take some pictures from afar and be on our way. And yes, that was enough of a reason to go pick up Connie and Heather and drive all the way out to Torrance.
You've heard everyone else's stories (and maybe have seen the pictures) so mine is going to be redundant. I think I'll just try and fill in some things that I remember that I don't think were mentioned elsewhere. We did get a chance to meet both Jason Dohring and Michael Muhney, a fact that got bit lost in our crazy Jason-love. I feel bad about that now because that man knows how to work a tank-top, but Michael was very gracious about it. Also, I was pretty paralyzed during the whole thing. I talked so much yesterday that my throat is sore today but I was nearly a mute during the entire Jason/Michael meeting. When that happened at Comic Con, I thought that it was kind of a fluke but now I realize I just am that nervous all the time. I don't know why I cease to be a capable, adult woman when around this guy but yeah, that's the way it is.
( All right - in star point fashion! )
Afterwards we went on a mini-Buffy tour, which was still interesting even though I didn't want anyone to spoil me since I had never seen the show. I had my picture taken with C and H (pure cane sugar) outside of Buffy's house. Fun! Then sushi and back to C and D's for some good tv fun in the loft. I knew I had found my kind of people when I saw there were three laptops in the room and all were hooked up to wifi. While watching the Emmy pre-show I think I found my new award show watching partner in D because he made fun of Lauren Graham's folded boob and that was awesome. Actually, there was a lot of breast talk, between my cleavage (unintentional!) and Charisma Carpenter nudes and LG's ill fitting dress. You know it's a good time when there is a lot of breast talk. Then I finally saw Reefer Madness and it was just about the greatest movie ever. I now ship Veronica/Jimmy. Then I watched my first episode of Buffy ever, a 4th season ep called "Something Blue." I totally dug it and I understood why there are Spike lovers and who Riley was and all sorts of stuff. I like understanding things.
That was the day! I really know how to pick a first fandom don't I? I am crazy about all these people and hope that Monday and Tuesday are somehow the shortest days ever recorded so that it will be time for the premiere party and I can glom onto everyone again and cheer on my new friend Jason Dohring.

When the other Batman movies came out, I would be at the theatre at 12 midnight to see the first showing. Yes, even for the Michael Keaton Batman when I was 11. I've been looking forward to seeing Batman Begins for roughly my whole life (or...a year, give or take). Now people on my friends list are already talking about seeing it and it looks like it will be at least Sunday before we go! I'm so jealous! When I told Art I wanted to go the first night he said, "I'm not going to go with all the other BatHeads like you!"
WELL, FINE THEN!
All told, we're still totally behind on movies. We still want to see Revenge of the Sith, Cinderella Man (him), Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Travelling Pants (me). Why do I not have time to sit at the theatre, eating popcorn and watching movies?! Maybe it's because I spend all my time sitting in front of my computer. I doubt that though.
Bad news: Jason Dohring dropped out of the Scientology Skating Spectacular so I won't be meeting him this Sunday. Oh, one day, JD, ONE DAY.
I am feeling very manic right now, I think I will go sit somewhere else and think of ways to move Batman to the top of the movie list.

Las Vegas by the Numbers:
465: # of miles driven by myself (K's sisters who were going to be my driving partners ended up having to back out so that left me on my own.) I can't get over how much I enjoyed driving those hours on my own. It felt so free. Plus, I was able to pick K up at the airport! Fun!
90: the amount of money our room was per night. On the WEEKEND. I fell in love with Downtown LV this weekend, I would be happy to never stay on the main strip again!
2: # of strange men K danced with. We talked to LOTS of strangers this weekend. Sorry, Mom!
1: # of strange men proposing marriage to me. When I told him that I was already married, therefore unavailable to be his bride, he said, "That's okay!"
10: # of Tecates I consumed during $1 Tecate weekend at the Plaza. $1 Tecates are my new best friend!
11: # of dollars I still had with me when I drove away from Las Vegas. As usual, gambling is not my friend but thanks to K, I still had great fun at the black jack table!
It was a blast and even through all the debachery, we still had time to go see Gavin DeGraw, John Legend and Maroon 5 at the MGM Grand. It was a great show and I think I might be listening to John Legend for a very long time. Great way to kick off my summer of no classes! Thanks be to K, for being such a great pal and for listening to all my secrets!

Word to the wise:
When listening to your cd's on headphones at work (in an open plan office setting, natch), try not to sing Tahiti 80 at the top of your lungs. Everyone else in the office is listening to Christmas carols.
*sigh*
I'm a complete bozo.

I work 9 hours a day here at Fuzz Central. In exchange they let me have an extra day off every other week. It's always a Thursday and I always like to have cool things to do on that day so that afterwards I can say, "And I still have two more days off! Yay!"
This upcoming March 18 is my next Thursday off and I'm already overbooked. Oops! I wanted to go see Pamela Ribon at her comedy show for Comedy Central and made reservations, but Largo is doing a rare Thursday night Comedy show featuring Art's favourite, Sarah Silverman. So much comedy, not enough time. And I'm not even mentioning the meeting with a travel agent that I've ALREADY cancelled for the exact same night.
And really, this whole entry is just a sham - I just wanted an opportunity to say, "I Got System of a Down Greek Theatre tickets!" WOO HOO!
:D I love days off.

All this yapping about fashion and I realise - I'm leaving for Las Vegas/San Diego on Friday and I have NO idea what I'm going to pack. The old me would run to the nearest mall and just buy new clothes but the new me doesn't have that option so I have to make do with all the crap I currently have.
Oh man, what to wear, what to wear.
And I did laundry yesterday and accidentally washed a lipstick, ruining my favourite Rufus shirt. Fackity shmack what should I pack?!
