I'm feeling a lot better about SYTYCD this week and I think it's because Nigel finally made me mad. It just wasn't right to me to not want him to die. Which is probably a poor choice of words considering he just had surgery but anyway...let's get on with this.
( SYTYCD )
I woke up this morning STUNNED that 4th of July is a week from Saturday. Where is time going? I think I am sleeping my life away.

Pop Quiz! Three guesses and the first two don't count.
Who wants to guess what happened when I got way too lazy/busy/whatever to get a refill on my birth control prescription? Let's not get too personal here, but forgetting to take a pill or neglecting to fill a prescription for say, MONTHS is something I have done A LOT in the time I have been married. Oh, okay and before I was married. And there have been no consequences! UNTIL NOW!
I'm totes pregnant. Knocked up. Bun in the oven. Art and I are expecting a child in December. I KNOW, RIGHT?! A human being. Lord help us all.
Maybe the sheer force of will of not wanting to have children kept me safe before. (THAT'S A JOKE. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE ANY FAMILY PLANNING ADVICE FROM ME). But we let our guard down and changed our minds and next thing you know, we're prepping to be parents. It's taken time to get used to the whole idea, but we are feeling blessed.
( More info if you're interested )
So that's what's been going on with me! I really need to get to bed, keep reminding myself that I am not off tomorrow.

Hello, HELLO! I am in a great mood this morning, I fancied up for work (even wearing HEELS), took the time to get a vanilla latte from Starbucks before work, Jason's show was (probably) picked up for air on HBO, AND it's the last day of this godforsaken year!
I had a whole Christmas post, but I probably won't post it because I am lazy and everyone's probably tired of Christmas by now. But I had a very nice one, I got a tree (my first in five years!) and we went to see family and Art bought me exactly what I wanted, a Blackberry Storm and Heather (my Team Logan Secret Santa) bought me the other thing I wanted, Gossip Girl season 1 on DVD. And the Chargers made the playoffs which rules, but now they have to play
superbonbon4's boo Peyton Manning, which sucks (I LOVE the Manning's).
BUT! IT's the end of the year, and despite all the work literally PILED on my desk, I am doing this end of the year meme. Smell ya later, 2008, you sucked and ruled and sucked some more. GOOD RIDDANCE. Come on, 2009.

Ok, so I fell asleep on my couch somewhere in the 9 o'clock hour during the Lakers game, then was RUDELY disturbed and now I am not tired in the slightest. Bummer.
I heard that people were upset that there wasn't MORE talk about Twilight on their friend's lists so I'm here to fill your void (she says, tongue firmly in cheek). Tomorrow I'm seeing it again with more of Team Logan and sitting in on a Q&A with the director, Catherine Hardwicke.
( She's not ONE OF US! )
Ok, now that's done time to get my cred back: in the last few weeks I've seen Rachel Getting Married and Slumdog Millionaire. Both were absolutely fantastic highlighted by great performances, with the former being relatable and heart-wrenching and the latter being especially amazing all around. Slumdog is so far my favorite movie this year. I am really impressed by the performance Dev Patel delivers, especially since I had convinced myself he was playing a version of himself in Skins. In the very near future I'm going to see the French film A Christmas Tale and then the Oscar heavy hitters will start to open up and all the chagrin will finally be removed from my system. FOR NOW.

It's almost time for me to go home and just wait for the results, well, MORE results since Kentucky and Vermont are already decided. Heather's coming over tonight to watch election results. Please don't let me down, California. I have a bottle of wine and I'm not afraid to use it.

Also - I am sad to share the evidence of a vandalism that occurred at my apartment a week or so ago. I bought a bunch of The Office goodies at Target and was excited to use my Pam magnetic dry erase board right away. That excitement was short-lived however, when I saw that SOMEONE who will remain nameless but has represented herself as my fake sister in the past and WAS a person I thought I could trust once upon a time commited some criminal mischief! Not to worry, the authorities will be notified of this grave injustice.

Speaking of having no shame, it's almost Fall, so time to reflect on the Summer. Which, was pretty shitty overall for me, but there were some bright spots and silliness that I kind of need to put out there on the internet. Sort of like an atonement! Numbered list, anyone?
( Summertime Guilty Pleasures )
Things I didn't do this Summer: 1) finish Breaking Dawn (I refuse!), 2) get overly involved with Big Brother (watched occasionally but still enjoyed it), 3) as so lovingly reminded just now by Heather: get Beck tickets. Still upset about that one.
One last thing: Oh, Jeopardy! not you, too.

I am in desperate need of a distraction but don't have a ton of time, so I am going to post about last night's SYTYCD. I am SWAMPED at work today and here I thought I'd be able to relax! So if you feel like getting chatty or spammy in the comments, that would be cool. It doesn't have to be about last night's show. Also - I haven't seen PR yet so no spoilers about that!

I just bought this amazing new purse! I saw it yesterday afternoon at Nordstrom and fell in love with it but couldn't really justify the money since I also needed to buy some new work slacks and you know, like, food. But I thought about how much I loved it all day and all night and thought about putting aside some money this week and then buying it when I got paid again (my raise will kick in soon enough, right? RIGHT.)
But then, this morning, I went to visit it on the Kenneth Cole website and saw that it was on sale there, FOR 65% OFF! I love it when stuff like this happens! I bought it and the matching wallet (also on big time discount) and now I can't WAIT for it to get here. It should be here just in time for me to start my new job in a week.

Wade Robson WHO? Sonya totally ruled SYTYCD last night with this Jazz routine for Mark and Courtney! This is neck and neck with the Bleeding Love number from earlier in the season for my favorite routine of the season. It's the first time I ever legitimately considered Courtney as a real contender in the competition (sorry, Courtney) and her confidence in the routine made me so fearful for Chelsie. They were GREAT!
I'm not getting into the Twitch vs. Mark debate (at least not here, anyway) though I'm sure it is way obvious I would prefer Mark to be in the Final 4 dancers. He has really brightened up this season for me and I just want him to see it through til the end. Like
So, I'm thinking Josh and Katee are a lock, who else do you think will round out the Final 4? Will Courtney's late surge put her over Chelsie who has never been in danger? Do you want to debate Mark v. Twitch? Results show tonight cannot GET HERE FAST ENOUGH. Also - who out there is going to the tour?? I am so shamed but I really want to go!

Earthquake! I was sitting at my desk writing an e-mail to
superbonbon4 when the shaking started. I was like, "Oh, earthquake!" and continued writing. Then we got a big jolt and I was like, "Hmmmmm...." and closed the Gmail window. I turned around to my co-worker and she was already under her desk. I figured if we kept jolting, I'd move and by the time I'd completed that thought, it was over.
Then my Captain announced it was centered near my mom's (and in-law's) places so I've been trying to get a hold of my mom ever since. So far, the lines are too jammed. Art just got through to me and he said he got through to his mom and she's fine, just a few books fell from the shelves. I know 5.8 isn't that strong, but I'd feel better if I could hear my mommy's voice.
EDIT! Got through finally, Mom is good. Whew!

Anyways, I wish I were still sleeping off Comic Con. My GOD, it left me so exhausted. Full panel reports will come ... someday. I went to Day the Earth Stood Still, Max Payne, Summit (that's Twilight), was surprised by Hugh Jackman showing brand new X-Men Origins footage (what's UP, Taylor Kitsch as Gambit?), True Blood, Dexter, Stargate Atlantis, Joss Whedon/Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog, Ben 10: Alien Force, Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, The Office Writers, Pushing Daisies, Fringe and The Sarah Silverman Program. It was fun but as usual left me questioning if the fun was worth the hassle. Answer: Probably.
Oh, right, I want to talk about SYTYCD real quick:

I never did find my camera so I didn't take any real photos at Comic-Con and can I admit something? It was really nice to not have to worry about it. I might do the Con camera free from now on. Every panel was well covered by people much more generous than I and so I can go enjoy their photos! Here are a couple of pics I did take.

My boss totally thought I took today off. And I know I was thinking it, but I never formally requested it! I have a ton of work to do though so even if I did request it, I couldn't take it in good conscience. Damn responsibility!
Leaving for Comic Con this afternoon. I am hoping we get to town early enough for
sweetcynic23 to pick up her pass for the weekend, then we're settling in with
starspentswell and
behindyou for SYTYCD tonight. Let's go, Mark!
Tomorrow is the Twilight panel. I'm honestly terrified. I don't really do fandom for Twilight and Heather's stories about the TwiMoms and the Lexicon weirdos and how hardcore they are make me feel really weary. But, I am interested in that cheesy as hell piece of celluloid and what the actors/director have to say about it, so, I guess I'm gonna have to take a valium and deal.
My main can't miss panel is The Office one on Saturday (MINDY!!!!) and I have yet to actually ever see a Heroes panel so I am going to that, too. I gave up on the show, but I haven't given up on seeing Milo Ventimiglia or Greg Grunberg in person. I think our other musts are Pushing Daisies, the Dr. Horrible panel and evening screening (Oh, NPH, how I love you), Fringe and maybe Dollhouse? I don't know. I'll be Twitter-ing throughout. I'm most excited about hanging out with my Team Logan girls and working on my Slytherin scarf during panels.

Heh - I have a ton of work on my desk, but I'm here instead. Ooops.
So, REALLY, Emmy's? Boston Legal (which isn't really even a drama, right?) and Damages, but not The Wire for Best Drama Series? You couldn't even just throw it a token (pun not intended but hey...) nomination in that category?

OH HEY - one more thing. My brother called this morning with a question - he was thinking of a video from the 1980's, or early 1990's that took place at a circus or had clowns or a fun house or something like that. I guessed Mariah Carey's "Fantasy" since I knew that was at an amusement park and Usher's "My Way" since I think that has clowns or something but he said it was from earlier than that. Any guesses?

Wooo - I just heard from my boss Luther and my unit has released me from my position here and I start my new job on the 28th - right after Comic-Con. Soo, it looks like I might be bailing kind of early on that Sunday so I can get some proper rest. I don't have a ticket for the Con on Sunday anyway so it's not such a big deal. I'm waiting to hear from my new boss so we can talk schedule and start time and objectives and all that. Now that I won't be fighting traffic, I am hoping to start work later in the morning so I don't have to get up so early!
Anyways, that was a detour from what I intended to post. At work, we regularly watch movies during our lunch hour and last week one of the guys brought in this movie, Solstice. I'd never heard of it and wasn't really planning on watching until I saw that it starred Amanda Seyfried and Shawn Ashmore. It was pretty much the worst movie I've seen all year. But in like that "this is so stupid it's funny" way! So actually it was kind of entertaining. It's this faux horror film about teen-agers who have recently lost one of their group to suicide but decide to go to the Louisiana bayou for the summer solstice. THEN the dead friend starts sending messages to her twin sister. OR DOES SHE?? Apparently, it went straight to DVD (not a surprise) so if you ever get super bored I say check it out sometime.
It's movie week out here! Heather and C picked up passes for the Step Brothers premiere and I am not passing up a chance to see John C. Reilly in person so I am tagging along. I'm also going to see Mamma Mia! this week (So excited to see Amanda on the big screen! Singing!) and then OF COURSE The Dark Knight on Friday. Batman is my favorite superhero so I am so ready for this movie to show up and be awesome.
Comic-Con planning is already giving me a headache. But I am COMMITTED to having a good time and not having a stress meltdown like previous years. I also need to remember to stock up on some Lara Bars so I don't die of starvation while waiting for all the panels. Now I just need to decide what day to go get sloshed on post-Con margaritas.
